Facilities
Safeway is 360,000 square feet on 40 acres of commercial land. The Tedesco Family invested in the facility and has a “Ready to Eat Production Philosophy” environment, which creates a safe, quality atmosphere throughout all food handling divisions.
In the storage area, the facility has 48 enclosed and refrigerated shipping/receiving bays, with approximately 7 million cubic feet of multi-temperature freezer / cooler space.
The Fresh Foods Division has a dedicated 15,000 square feet manufacturing plant with the expandability of an additional 70,000 square feet.
The plant is served daily by Conrail for Norfolk Southern and CSX, by Safeway Logistics (our in-house licensed freight broker), and by Safeway Distributors (our onsite fleet of refrigerated trailers and tractors).
The entire facility has thermostatically controlled rooftop refrigeration and inventory is checked 24/7 by a centralized monitoring system. Warehouse racks are inventoried with Acellos software, which includes both a complete warehouse management system and manufacturing resource planning system.
